Grow Cucumbers in Greenhouses!!!
from:Let us begin with what cucumbers really are. Cucumbers are vegetables that grow well in a semi- tropical climate. Their growth will take place very soundly when they get a lot of humidity, moisture, fertilizer and of course, light. It is rare that you will find a greenhouse that is solely for the purpose of growing cucumbers. They are, often, grown along with other plants like tomatoes. They can even be grown during the season of spring when nothing else is grown in greenhouses.
It can prove to be very lucrative to undertake the production of greenhouse cucumbers. But to be able to grow them successfully, you should have complete information about how to grow them. Compared to tomatoes, cucumbers can be grown more easily. However, as far as cost efficiency is concerned, tomatoes are far better at it than cucumbers in greenhouses.
In order to grow cucumbers in greenhouses, the system of heating may need to be modified. A high temperature will need to be maintained so that they grow well. The soil used should contain a high proportion of organic matter. Aeration should take place well for good growth of cucumbers. The system of drainage should be properly installed. The organic matter that is required should be added to the soil only once in a particular year. Soil may become deficient in nitrogen if any organic matter may be added freshly to it. Hence, it’s better if the soil is sterilized before planting any cucumbers in your greenhouse. Fungicide could be used to treat the seed. This can prevent the seeds from becoming damp. The growth of greenhouses should be rapid, and the growth should not be stopped for any reason.
In addition to the natural sunlight, certain more amount of light is required. 12-14 hours of light can be provided by the use of candles. The leaves of plants, placed side by side, should not come in contact with each other. The temperature ought to be maintained between 80 to 85F. Care should be taken that it doesn’t fall below 70 F. Taking these factors into consideration, growing cucumbers in greenhouses can prove to be highly beneficial.
