Use of Hydroponics for Growing Vegetable in Greenhouse:
from:There are many types of greenhouses are used for growing vegetables. Greenhouse can be made of PVC, steel, aluminum, wood etc and cover with glass, or various rigid and flexible plastic materials. Various methods can be used to produce vegetables in a greenhouse. It includes planting directly in the soil within the greenhouse, containers with soiless mixes, nutrient film technique, rockwool production, and so on.
Hydroponics method includes Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), Rockwool Production and Production in Perlite system. Hydroponics method means the nutrients that are supplied to plants by the irrigation water. Water is important in Hydroponics methods.
Hydroponics method is well known method for growing vegetables in greenhouses. These methods are good and clean. They do not contain organic material. It is easy to provide and control all required nutrients.
In nutrient film technique polyethylene tube are used. Plants are placed in the tubs that have slits cut in the plastic for the roots to be inserted. Nutrients are provided through the tube.
Now day’s polyethylene are also used as supporting medium in Perlite Technique.
The pH is an essential thing that requires when plants are to be grown in Hydroponics system. It can be controlled and adjusted. Two stock solutions will be used in most of the hydroponics production methods. Use mixture compost of calcium nitrite and phosphorus material. You can also use calcium sulfate that will be precipitate when calcium nitrite will be mixed with magnesium sulfate.
You can also avoid the some problems by using one stock solution that will be prepared with calcium nitrite and iron. And remaining material can be used in second stock solution.
Harvesting of some vegetables like tomato, cucumber, pepper will be a continual process throughout the growing cycle. These will be grown in Hydroponics system. Harvesting some plants with attaching and packing stems you can avoid some diseases. You will also stop bruising and damages by suing the above technique in hydroponics method. It is better if you follow the Hydroponics method in cold season. It is because the vegetables will grow safety and protect from heat.
Use media testing method. As hydroponics need more water and supplies nutrient through water you must have to use media testing procedures. If needs use artificial lights and ventilation system.
