Growing Plants under Artificial Lights in Greenhouse:
from: Plants need energy. They absorb it from the sun. The sun creates heat. And plants require the very heat. Heat is their food. They take it in and grow. But plants do not get such kind of energy in greenhouse. It is because they are covered from all sides and it is very difficult for them to grow in the greenhouse. Greenhouses are becoming more popular instead of farms. In western countries, days are shorter and the nights are longer during winter season. This is one of the natural reasons for the limitation of light for the greenhouse plants. Artificial light is the best solution. It supplies enough lights to the plants year round. It helps to grow healthy, attractive plants during the winter season.
Use phosphor-coated lights so that can help to create color. Cool white bulbs produce blue and yellow green light. It does not produce more red lights. It is a poor source of red light. Warm white bulbs produce orange and red light. It produces less blue and green light. Suitable color can be created for healthy plant growth by using any one of the bulbs (or both).
Different types of plants need different light intensities. Some plants require low light while some plants need more intensity. You can also create more or less intensity of light by using artificial light. Small plants need lower intensity of light while large and fruits need more intensity. Just decide what kind of intensity your plants require. You can change the system accordingly. Mirrors are also use to reflect and to increase the amount of light available to your plants.
First decide what kind of plants you have and what kind of light your plants require. You also have to choose place for light. Most plants grow well with about 12 to 16 hours of artificial light a day. More or less light than the requirements can be affect on plants. Bright bulbs mostly supplies red lights rather than blue rays. The blue rays provide plants needs. They have greater intensity and can cause to burn plants. Fluorescent bulbs produce more light but create less energy. These bulbs produce blue rays that are very important to the plants.
Such a way artificial lights are essential in any kind of greenhouse. They provide what plants really needs. Although this is an artificial light, it is secondary natural resource for the plants in the greenhouse.
