First and foremost, the environment of the greenhouse should be very good. The tomato seeds that are used should be those that have been made especially for use in greenhouses. Since, you are growing tomatoes in winter, warm conditions will have to be created. Heat mats can be used in order to create conditions of warmth. Ahead of the process of transplantation taking place, make sure that the seeds have developed well for about a week at least. Containers measuring about ten gallons should be used so that there is adequate space for the growth of the tomato plants. For the control of different diseases, a mild bleach solution that has been sanitized can be used.

This is essential because calcium deficiency can affect your plants. Blossom end rot is a common disease. In order to avoid pests affecting your plants, you can grow herbs in your greenhouse. Lavender and basil are some common herbs that are grown in order to tackle the problem of pests. Since the weather will be very cold, try to choose a location that receives a lot of sunlight. However, the natural sunlight often falls short. So, some amount of additional light will need to be provided. You can make use of high pressure sodium lights. The plants will flower and fruit in a much better way. During the day, at least sixteen to eighteen hours of light should be given.
Any changes brought about in temperature will adversely affect the growth of tomatoes. So, make sure that temperature is optimally maintained.
