Plant cutting propagation months.

from:

In the nature propagation of plants take place in two ways namely sexually and asexually. Sexual reproduction takes place through seeds. Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction technique, which results in the formation of new individuals from the cells of a single parent. Asexual or vegetative reproduction is advantageous in case of some plants, which cannot be grown into offspring from their seed stage. It can take a very long time for some shrubs and trees to rise from the seed stage. Plant cutting is one of the methods of asexual reproduction. It is observed that the yield of the tree that is achieved from cutting is greater than the yield of the tree that is received from the seedlings. The characteristics of the plant produced due to cutting are of a higher potential than the plant grown through a seedlings.
There are different characteristics of a cutting. The most common among those are Stem cuttings, leaf cuttings, leaf bud cutting and root cutting.
Once the cutting is done one has to insert one-third to one-half their length into the medium. The stem during this period is to be kept vertically. The buds should always be pointed at the top. The cutting should not be exposed directly to the sun. The medium in which the stems of these cuttings placed should always be moist. The rooting can be improved if the cuttings are misted on regular basis. The rooting time is different for different species. The rooting time depends on the type of cutting, the type of species and the type of environmental conditions.
There are two types of cutting propagation namely, the hydroponic and the mist propagation. The hydroponic type of propagation is generally not used for large-scale propagation. It is usually used for small-scale production. The other one is the mist propagation. This type of propagation is generally used for large scale propagation. The rooting period for different cuttings is different. It is as follows:
Evergreens, difficult rooting (semi ripe): Approximately 8 weeks.
Conifers, easy rooting (semi ripe): Approximately 8 weeks.
Softwoods, forced stock plants: Approximately 4 weeks.
Softwoods, normal method: Approximately 4 weeks.
Conifers dwarf, if not grafted (semi ripe): Approximately 8 weeks.
Evergreens, easy rooting (semi ripe): Approximately 8 weeks.
Conifers, difficult rooting (semi ripe): Approximately 8 weeks.
Thus these are various factors that affect the propagation time of the cuttings.
