House plant propagation + prayer plant.
from:The realization that propagating plants in house is an easy task has led people to go for House plant propagation. There are two ways in which propagation of plant takes place namely the sexual and the asexual type of reproduction. Asexual reproduction is also called as vegetative propagation. The sexual type of propagation takes place with the help of seeds and spores. The asexual type of reproduction takes place with the help of using the part of the original plant such as the stem, Leaves and the roots. Generally the plants that are planted in the house are of the shrub types, or the tree types, or the herbaceous perennials or the trees. It is very difficult to grow such plants from the seed stage. Thus the propagation of such plants is done by vegetative means.
Prayer plant is one of the most outstanding indoor plants. Maranta leuconeura is the botanical name for this plant. A prayer plant is bushy, low growing, compact plant. It has oval and oblong leaves. The plant has got its name as prayer plant due to its distinct ability of folding its leaves at night that is in the dark light. It resembles as if the plants are in a prayer.
The prayer plant has many different varieties in them. The leaves of these plants have different colors and appearances depending on the type. The prayer plant must not be kept in a bright sunlight. They must be kept in a shady area. These plants do not favor bright light and high temperatures. The leaves of the prayer plant can be bleached if they are exposed to direct sunlight. This usually occurs in the summer season.
The soil in which the prayer plant is planted must be kept moist in the winter time. In the summer the soil should be kept moist all the time. In the winter season some warmth must be maintained for these plants. This is because if the weather is too cool the leaves of this prayer plants turn brown and start shriveling. The leaves of these plants should be misted continuously in dry weather. There are some automatic misting mechanisms available these days that can help in regular watering of the prayer plants.
Thus one can easily go for the propagation of prayer plants in their houses.
